Returns & Refunds Policy

This Returns and Refunds Policy applies to all purchases made through www.layeronesystems.co.za and is provided in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

This policy forms part of the Terms and Conditions of Layer One Systems (Pty) Ltd.

1. Cooling-Off Period for Online Purchases

In accordance with Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), customers have the right to cancel an online purchase within 7 days after delivery without providing a reason.

Conditions for cancellation:

  • The product must be unused

  • The product must be returned in its original packaging

  • All accessories, manuals, and included items must be returned

  • The product must not be damaged

Customers are responsible for the cost of returning goods when exercising this cooling-off right.

Delivery charges are non-refundable.

Refunds will be processed within 30 days after the returned goods have been received and inspected.

2. Defective Products (CPA Section 56)

In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, all goods sold carry an automatic 6-month implied warranty of quality.

If a product is defective within 6 months of purchase, customers may request:

  • Repair

  • Replacement

  • Refund

provided the defect is not caused by:

  • misuse or abuse

  • negligence

  • incorrect installation

  • unauthorised modification

  • power surges or external damage

  • normal wear and tear

Layer One Systems (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to inspect the product before confirming a refund, replacement, or repair.

3. Manufacturer Warranties

Many products sold by Layer One Systems (Pty) Ltd include manufacturer warranties that extend beyond the CPA 6-month period.

Manufacturer warranties:

  • are administered by the product manufacturer or authorised service centre

  • may require the product to be assessed by the distributor or manufacturer

  • may require the customer to return the product to an authorised repair centre

The terms of such warranties are determined by the manufacturer.

4. Products That Cannot Be Returned

Returns or refunds will not be accepted for:

  • Activated software licences

  • Downloaded digital software

  • Products damaged through misuse or negligence

  • Products altered or repaired by unauthorised persons

  • Products returned without original packaging or missing accessories

5. Return Process

To initiate a return request, customers must contact us first.

Returns must not be shipped without prior authorisation.

  • Order number

  • Product name

  • Description of the issue

  • Photos if applicable

Once the return request is approved, return instructions will be provided.

6. Inspection and Testing

Returned products may undergo diagnostic testing.

If testing confirms the product is functioning correctly, the product may be returned to the customer and reasonable handling or testing fees may apply.

7. Refund Processing

Refunds will be processed using the original payment method, unless otherwise agreed.

Refunds may take several business days to reflect depending on the payment provider.
